Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science was created in 1999, calved out from Mathematics and Computer Department. The Department began with the following pioneer Lecturers Mr. Peter B. Zirra as head of department (HOD), Mr. David Tayo Oladipo as Departmental Examination Officer (DEO), Mal. Aliyu Evuti as Part-Time Consultancy programme coordinator and Mr. Rasheed O. Falowo. Other staff were employed in the following year such as Mr. Raji R. Ayanda and Mr. Victor Iboyi. Currently, the department is having strength of twenty academic staff and eight non-academic staff.

The Department offers the following courses both in regular and part-time:
1. National Diploma in Computer Science (ND)
2. Higher National Diploma in Computer Science (HND)
3. Diploma in Computer Science (DCS)
4. Diploma in Information Communication Technology (DICT)
5. Pre Higher National Diploma in Computer Science

Admission Requirements

Departmental Basic Admission Requirements

Five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics any other two subjects from the followings: Statistics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Economics and Biology at not more than two sittings in SSCE NECO/WAEC/NABTEB.

National Diploma in Computer Science (ND)

In addition to the Departmental basic admission requirements, candidates for National Diploma (ND) must have a minimum score in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTEM). UTME subject?s combination: - Mathematics, English Language and any two subjects from Physics, Geography, Economics and Chemistry.

Higher National Diploma (HND)

In addition to the Departmental basic admission requirements stated above, candidates for Higher National Diploma (HND) must satisfy the conditions:
1. Certificate in National Diploma in Computer Science with minimum of Lower credit pass.
2. Certificate in National Diploma in Computer Engineering with minimum of Lower credit pass.

Diploma in Computer Science (DCS)

Five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics any other two subjects from the followings: Statistics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Economics and Biology at not more than two sittings in SSCE NECO/WAEC/NABTEB.

Pre Higher National Diploma in Computer Science (PHND)

In addition to the Departmental basic admission requirements, candidates for Pre-Higher National Diploma (HND) should have:
1. Candidate with two years Diploma in Computer Science (DCS) with transcript
2. Any graduate of science and engineering based discipline.

Diploma in Information Communication Technology (DICT)

1. O? Level result in SSCE NECO/WAEC/NABTEB,
2. Certificate in any area of academic discipline

Graduation Requirements

All courses registered for in any programme of study must be cleared or passed before students will be allowed to graduate in the department.
